SPENCER – Spencer’s town election on May 12 features a couple of contested races including two open slots on the Board of Selectmen.

With Ralph Hicks and John Howard not seeking re-election, the candidates for the three-year selectmen’s terms are Gina M. Beford, Jennifer Jean Gaucher, Norman C. Letendre, Jr., and Christopher Lee Woodbury.

For the two-year moderator seat, Ralph E. Hicks and Jason Michael Brewster are the candidates.

There are no candidates on the ballot to serve as the Spencer representative on the Spencer East Brookfield Regional School District Committee or as Park Commissioner. Both have three-year terms.

Running unopposed for re-election are the following: Alyson Marie Russo, Library Trustee; Daniel Carl Shields, Board of Health; Raymond I. Holmes, Tree Warden; Lawrence H. Dufault, Sewer Commissioner; and Donna Flannery, Housing Authority.

Also seeking re-election are Treasurer Collector Rebecca M. Forand, Water Commissioner Norman C. Letendre, Jr. and Assessor Pamela Ann Woodbury.

Jennifer K. Trigiano is running unopposed as the East Brookfield representative on the Spencer/East Brookfield Regional School Committee.

For the Southern Worcester County Regional Vocational School District Committee, Robert Louis Zukowski is seeking re-election and Mary C. Barrell is running unopposed to fill a vacancy on that board.

Voters will also be asked two Proposition 2 ½ override questions. One seeks $264,456 to fund the operational budget for the Spencer East Brookfield Regional School District. The other asks for $368,390 to fund four firefighters. Both would be for FY27 (beginning July 1, 2026).
