SPENCER/EAST BROOKFIELD – The Spencer-East Brookfield Teachers’ Association (SEBTA) and the school district reached a three-year collective bargaining agreement effective July 1, 2025.
The pact was recently ratified by the School Committee and teachers’ union.
According to Superintendent Paul Haughey, the agreement calls for 3% increases in each year. Another significant change from the previous contract is the extension of the school year to 183 days for teachers. This results from adding in full-day professional development time in place of the previous five to six half days.
Haughey added that there are no other groups negotiating contracts this year.
“Representatives have been working toward this agreement for several months. By putting in the effort necessary, we believe that agreeing to this collective bargaining agreement in a timely manner allows us to remain focused on the many exciting things happening within the Spencer–East Brookfield Regional School District,” noted Peter Bogren, SBETA president and Pat Lacaire, negotiation subcommittee chairperson from the Spencer-East Brookfield Regional School Committee in a press release.
