SPENCER – A Rutland woman sustained non-life-threatening injuries when she was struck by a vehicle in front of the Liberty Guest House Tuesday afternoon.
The woman, a 59-year-old, was in the crosswalk near 204 Main Street when she was struck by a 2017 Ford Trax sport utility vehicle just before 2 p.m., police said.
Amongst a flurry of 911 calls, dispatchers were also alerted to the incident by an Apple watch that police believe the victim was wearing when she was struck, Lt. Norman Hodgerney said.
The driver of the Trax, Lorie Kobel, 46, of Spencer, was cited for failure to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk, Hodgerney said.
The victim was taken by Spencer Rescue Squad to UMass Memorial Medical Center – University Campus for treatment of her injuries.
