Submission Guidelines

Content: Opinion pieces should address topics relevant to the Town of Spencer, MA. We encourage pieces that contribute to the community’s understanding, provoke thoughtful discussion, and offer unique insights. Please ensure your submission is well-reasoned, supported by evidence or personal experiences, and respectful of differing viewpoints.

Length: Opinion pieces should generally be no more than 1,000 words. We encourage concise and focused writing that engages readers without losing their attention. Please note that longer pieces may be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Originality: We only accept original submissions. Your opinion piece should not have been previously published elsewhere, including on personal blogs or social media platforms. Plagiarism is strictly prohibited.

Clarity and Language: Your writing should be clear, concise, and accessible to a broad audience. Use language that is respectful, non-offensive, and avoids personal attacks or discriminatory remarks.

Attribution and Accuracy: Ensure that any facts, statistics, quotes, or references are properly attributed to their original sources. Fact-checking is essential, and we expect authors to uphold a high standard of accuracy in their submissions.

Editorial Discretion: The Spencer Journal reserves the right to edit, modify, or decline any submissions based on our editorial policies, space constraints, or other relevant factors. We may also reach out to you for revisions or clarifications before publishing.
