SPENCER – On December 6, Spencer firefighters responded to a structure fire at 324 Main Street—Woody’s Auto Body. At the scene, crews encountered heavy black smoke coming from a garage door at the one and two-story commercial building.

Units were close by, setting up to participate in the Spencer Parade of Lights when the call came in.

A second alarm assignment was struck and firefighters were able to quickly knock down the fire. Minimal damage was reported and there were no injuries.

Also responding to the scene were Spencer Emergency Management crews and Central Mass Sparks Association—Rehab 78.

On social media, Kyle’s Automotive posted a message thanking the town and community members for their response.

“What could have been a total loss to the building was salvaged only because of an entire town watching out for each other,” the post, in part, read.

They noted that Woody’s Collison Center, driven by Fuller Collision Group, suffered the most damage and said they will be working with their Auburn location to meet the needs of customers and employees.

After a delay, the Spencer Parade was able to proceed.
