SPENCER – Haul out the holly – and the best holiday lights you can find – the Spencer Firefighters Association is hosting a holiday lights contest.
Deputy Fire Chief Corey Lacaire said the Firefighters Association is encouraging residents to get creative with their light displays if they want to win a trophy and bragging rights for the next year.
While there are no rules, Lacaire said there will be prizes for the best overall display, most creative and best commercial decor.
Lacaire emphasized the event’s friendly nature, commenting, it won’t be an intense “Christmas light fight”, allowing participants to decorate freely and inviting the public to vote for their favorite displays via a survey.
Lacaire stressed that anyone can enter and that every decorated home is worth viewing.
Participants should have their decorations up by Dec. 9, coinciding with the town’s Parade of Lights.
To participate, contact Deputy Fire Chief Lacaire at Clacaire@spencerma.gov, send a direct message to the Firefighters Association on Facebook, or reach out to any association member by Dec. 7.
Firefighters will create a map listing the locations of participating homes and businesses.
The winner will have their name etched into the trophy which they will hold for a year, Lacaire said.
